Tmějová, Kateřina ; Lustigová, Michala (advisor) ; Hanzlová, Radka (referee)
The main concern of this thesis is the impact of selected socioeconomic and social factors on subjective well-being of individuals in the Czech population. This thesis thus explains and describes the concept of well-being and summarizes the factors that can influence it. Using data from survey EU-SILC 2018 of Czechia, the effect of selected socioeconomic and social factors on the level of well-being of an individual is analysed using a multinomial logistic regression method. Both individually and when all selected factors interact. The analysis found that the level of education, the level of income and the quality of housing of an individual significantly affect the level of life satisfaction. The significant effect of an individual's social ties on the level of life satisfaction was found to be the most significant when socioeconomic and social factors impacted on the level of life satisfaction. Another objective was to analyse the relationship between an individual's life satisfaction and self-rated health. This relationship was found to be reciprocal, meaning that the level of life satisfaction of an individual has an impact on his subjective health evaluation and vice versa. The thesis also compares the prevalence of life satisfaction of the Czech population with other populations that also...

Bošková, Mariana ; Kurtinová, Olga (advisor) ; Bartoňová, Dagmar (referee)
Alternative family forms in Czechia in the 21st century Abstract The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the development of alternative family forms in Czechia in the 21st century. These forms seem to be increasingly popular and more represented within households. The largest part of the research is devoted to unmarried cohabiting households. The characteristics of persons in these forms of cohabitation are presented in terms of their age, highest level of education, religion, and these households are also analysed according to the presence of children and their financial situation. The data are taken from the EU-SILC and ESS surveys from years 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 and the year 2011 is also added with data from the Czech population and household census. The grow index is included to assess the evolution between years and a logistic regression for the analysis of opinions on unmarried cohabitation as well. Households of unmarried cohabiting partners and singles persons are becoming increasingly popular. The increase is particularly evident in the younger age groups. Key words: cohabitations, same sex unions, de facto partnerships, singles, EU-SILC, ESS, households, Czechia

Zykmundová, Eliška ; Vinopal, Jiří (advisor) ; Hamplová, Dana (referee)
Housing Situation of Young People in the Czech Republic Abstract The thesis contributes to a discussion of a social stratification and inequalities in society. The aim of the work is to review a housing situation of Czech households, with the emphasis on the age of the head of household, from several complementary perspectives. Housing conditions of young households are described by the concept of the financial and physical affordability of housing on the basis of objective data about their income situation and the cost and quality of housing. Therefore, we can identify households that have limited access to adequate housing e.g. because of their social background or current social position in the society. The paper also examines the subjective opinions of respondents on the quality and the financial burden of housing. To achieve these objectives, data from the Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) of the Czech Statistical Office are analyzed for the years 2005-2011. The analysis also contains the regional perspective, which is used to compare the housing affordability for households living in the different areas of the Czech Republic. Also for this reason results of the thesis could be useful as a basis for housing policy makers. Keywords: young households, housing affordability, housing...
Seniors in Europe and Czechia: quality of life
Soldánová, Lucie ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor) ; Kalibová, Květa (referee)
Quality of life can be defined in different ways. In this thesis, the level of quality of life is conceptualized as a combination of many factors such as health status, material living conditions, a person's main productive activities, leisure and social interactions, living conditions, economic and physical security, and finally overall satisfaction with life itself. While these factors determine quality of life, they are themselves determined by the quality of life. It is the indicators of each quality of life factor that have been the input variables for the regionalisation of European countries. The quality of life indicators were mainly obtained from the EU-SILC 2018 results. The results of the regionalisation of Europe according to the quality of life of the elderly showed, that there are differences mainly between Western, Eastern and Northern Europe. It was also found that there are cultural, economic and geographical similarities between countries in the resulting macro-regions of Europe. Furthermore, the thesis also focuses on the analysis of the quality of life of the elderly in the Czech Republic. The input for this analysis was anonymised data from EU-SILC 2018 for individuals aged 65 and over. Within the Czech Republic, the study of the quality of life of seniors focused on a deeper...

Šustová, Šárka
WORKING POOR IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC Abstract Even though poverty is not the death or life question in developed countries it is necessary to pay attention to it. The topic of poverty, social cohesion and social exclusion plays now an increasing role in the EU agenda; working poor started to be explored in 1990s there. Working poor are people poor despite working. Work should serve as a protection of poverty, it should guarantee better living standard to employed people in comparison to those dependent on social protection. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the issue of working poor, to identify them, to find out the reasons why they are poor and to develop measures to help them not to be poor. This thesis brings a comprehensive view on the working poor in the Czech Republic. The focus is on the poverty rate as well as characteristics of working poor. Methods for measuring this phenomenon have not been fully developed yet, there is still not a consensus on the most suitable methods. Different methods are introduced, compared and critically evaluated in the first - theoretically oriented - part of the thesis. Combination and modification of existing methods creates a base for methodology used in this thesis. The core part of the thesis is dedicated to the detailed analysis of working poor in the...
Životní podmínky českých nízkopříjmových domácností
Antošová, Irena
The diploma thesis provides identification of low-income households in the Czech Republic and evaluates their living conditions. Primary data source is European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions. The thesis deals with income situation in Czech households and measures income inequality. Four ways are used for the determination of low-income households: income poverty line, first income decile, material deprivation and unemployment. The development of a number of low-income households and their income is evaluated in period 2007–2016. The combination of four previous methods identifies an extremely vulnerable part of the population. The structure of incomes of low-income households and the relevance of social transfers are explained. For assessment of living conditions in low-income households, the decomposition of the indicator of the material deprivation is used. The thesis reveals the determinants of income of households and identifies typical low-income households.
